Profile

Westinghouse is the vendor of the AP1,000 (operating at Sanmen and Haiyang in China and Vogtle 3&4 in the US; selected for Poland's first plant) and the developer of the AP300 SMR and eVinci microreactor; it also fabricates PWR fuel at Columbia (South Carolina), Springfields (UK) and Vasteras (Sweden). Since November 2023 it has been owned by Brookfield (51%, with Brookfield Renewable) and Cameco (49%). On 28 Oct 2025 Cameco and Brookfield signed a binding term sheet with the US Department of Commerce for a strategic partnership to build new Westinghouse reactors in the US with an aggregate investment value of at least US$80 billion; once vested, the US government receives 20% of Westinghouse cash distributions above US$17.5 billion and may require an IPO if the interest has vested by January 2029 at a valuation of US$30 billion or more (Cameco 6-K).
